This current collection of figure work is from my new book, A time to Dance. I was intrigued by the functions being performed by the models, while presenting the figure, formatted in unusual perspectives. The collection of pastels shown here are all 4.5"x6.5", small. This was a great exploration, searching for compositions that were dynamic. The pieces were started in September 2009, and finished in December 2009. In that time, I painted about 100 of these small studies, of which 68 made it into the book. Figure, is my first love in subject matter.
